Adventure #2/26 - Hike at Goorooyarroo

Date: Saturday 9th May 2026

Time: Hiking starts from the Yankee Hat Trailhead at 10am and will conclude by between 2-3pm. We will pause for lunch together around halfway.

Hike distance: 8-9km loop

Hike Description: While were were initially planning on going 4Wheel Driving for this advenutre, with current fuel prices, we decided to keep this one local so it will be more achievable for people to enjoy. This will also help us to remember that we don’t have to go remote locations to enjoy walking with God in His garden.

We will be walking through the Goorooyaoo Nature Reserve near Throsby which is a beautiful area of grasslands and hills. With expansive views of Canberra as we walk among the trees, we will work our way up one of the many hills to enjoy the view to its fullest.

Everyone is invited but you will need to have suitable fitness and ability to complete this moderate hike. And, as much as pets are important parts of many of our lives, please leave them at home to allow those who aren’t comfortable around pets to enjoy this time as well.

What to bring

  • Appropriate footwear and clothing. Be prepared for all weather possibilities
  • Snacks and Lunch to carry on your person for the trail
  • Enough water to carry on your person for the trail
  • A basic first aid kit
  • Sunscreen and a hat
  • Anything else that you require personally for the hike including any medication or aids that you might need

Weather contingency

Weather in this region can change quickly. This hike is moderate and in a remote location. If the weather forecast is looking particularly bad and unsafe, we may cancel the adventure but we won’t be able to tell until close to the day. A call will be made either the evening before or early in the morning for the safety of everyone.
